Just found this recording on my phone that I made in June. I will surely never be as good playing it as I was back then. When I stumbled across this song earlier this year, the first thing to cross my mind was that I really wanted to play it on the ukulele. Practicing the song as such took me about 5 days. Without prior knowledge in French pronounciation (thx high-school), I would probably never have dared to even cover it.
Right away I was struck by the lyrics which I could and still can relate to so well. Especially in times like these, lyrics like "Mes jours comme mes nuits sont en tous points pareils" (=My days and my nights are alike in every way) truly speak your mind. Paradoxically, as happy and uplifting this song might sound, it really is about the feeling of longing for love and intimacy, a cry for help out of melancholy, solitude and jealously towards people who have found "true love" and happiness. However, towards the end of the song, one is reminded that whatever weighs on your heart at the moment, it is never forever and there will come a day the sun will shine just for you.
