Description
Trisha Yearwood is a month and a day older than I am, and whilst she has no idea who I am, I have been a HUGE fan for nearly 25 years of this most sublime singer! Happy 55th birthday tomorrow, Trisha, and thank you for a quarter of a century of just amazing vocal performances - straddling not just country but pop, blues and traditional pop as heard here on a track from her album 'Let's Be Frank' which saw her cover Sinatra standards. I discovered Trisha in 1995 and immediately fell in love with that soaring vocal and her deep appreciation of country music. I had been a closet country music fan right from the start of my pop culture experience, but as a 30 year old, back in the mid 90's I really connected again with the essence of the genre - it's honesty and pure approach to storytelling and musicianship. Organic and hugely enjoyable. No-one belts out a ballad like Trisha Yearwood - her 'How Do I Live' is one of the great vocal performances from the mid 90's. Likewise the uptempo numbers in her hands are quite effortless. Country music has a knack for hooks, and catchy melodies. Trisha's voice feels like a friend that has been with me through my turbulent adulthood. Her voice can soothe and motivate; heal and energise - and be humbled and delighted. Sending love and thanks across the globe to this exemplary performer and hope she has a wonderful 55th birthday! I'm not far behind you, :)
