“I wrote the song as a pep talk for myself and others in these uncertain times.” Says Johnny Schaefer. “The images are things that came to me as I pondered the notion of suddenly awakening to find that one has a pair of wings. It is both personal and instructional as the narrator grows and learns. The first baby looks back at the sun and then we see him walking with his parents toward that same sun years later as a graduate. The second baby becomes the woman getting married. Just as she raises her arms in the air as she plays with her hat, she, her groom, and her guests raise their arms in joy. The tear of the man near the end becomes the lone feather slowly landing on the water.”
