“Up, Up and Away” is a “sunshine pop” song written by Jimmy Webb. It was recorded and released in 1967 by the 5th Dimension and was a big hit for the vocal group, reaching #7 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, #9 on the US Easy Listening chart, and #1 in both Canada and Australia.
It was also a hit at the 1968 Grammy Awards, winning Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals, Best Performance by a Vocal Group, Best Performance by a Chorus, and Best Contemporary Song.
In 1999, the song was included on BMI’s list of the "Top 100 Songs of the Century".
