"Anchors Aweigh" is a US marchcomposed in 1906 by Charles Zimmerman and written by Alfred Miles in dedication to the US Navy during the Army-Navy football game, and in the following year was adopted as the US Navy's official march. "The Marines' Hymn" is the official march of the US Marine Corps, with music composed in 1867 by Jacques Offenbach and officially being adopted by the Marines in 1929. The lyrics of the song reference historical battles involving the US.
