Ahead of the funeral for Jimmy Carter, President-elect Donald Trump and Mike Pence shared a moment shaking hands.
Thursday marks the final day of mourning for former President Jimmy Carter as the nation gathers to honor his life and legacy. Carter, the 39th president of the United States, passed away at 100 on Dec. 29.
The day began with his flag-draped casket lying in state at the U.S. Capitol Rotunda, where members of the public paid their respects through the night. At 9 a.m., the casket will be moved to Washington National Cathedral for a national funeral service beginning at 10 a.m. President Joe Biden will deliver the eulogy to a crowd of 3,000 attendees.
