Description
History:
The Yellow Rose of Texas is a patriotic song form 1858. The song was made shortly after the American-Mexican war. In 1836, Texas declared their independence from Mexic and proclaimed the republic of Texas. However this republic was shorty lived, since it voted to become part of the USA in 1845. Most of the USA did oppose Texas joining as a new state, to avoid possible war with Mexico in the future. A year later the US and Mexico were at war, with one of the major reasons being Texas joining the USA.
Also the "yellow rose of texas" is a real flower btw.
